Structure of an Elastic Lattice Pinned by Hopping Defects

چکیده
The translational order in a three-dimensional lattice pinned by hopping defects is studied. It is suggested that the equilibrium state of the lattice crosses from a glass to a crystal on the rate of hopping. It is argued that such a transition may exist in flux lattices of hightemperature superconductors due to the hopping of oxygen. PACS. 74.60.Ge Flux pinning, flux creep, and flux lattice dynamics. PACS. 05.20.-y Statistical mechanics. It is known that below four dimensions the translational order in a lattice subject to a static random background (pinning) is destroyed by a however weak interaction with the background [1, 2, 3, 4]. This fact has received much attention mostly in connection with pinning of flux lattices in superconductors, where translational correlations determine such important quantities as the

Numerical Study of the Anisotropic Properties of Vortex Motion in Superconducting Films with a Periodic Lattice of De ects
The anisotropic e ects on the dynamical phases of a vortex lattice driven by a uniform Lorentz force are investigated by numerical simulations. A square array of columnar defects is represented by a periodic pinning potential. We assume that ow is elastic, so that the vortex-vortex interactions can be represented by elastic forces. V-I characteristics and mean-square displacements and velocitie...
متن کاملStudy of Stone-wales Defect on Elastic Properties of Single-layer Graphene Sheets by an Atomistic based Finite Element Model
In this paper, an atomistic based finite element model is developed to investigate the influence of topological defects on mechanical properties of graphene. The general in-plane stiffness matrix of the hexagonal network structure of graphene is found. Effective elastic modulus of a carbon ring is determined from the equivalence of molecular potential energy related to stretch and angular defor...

The phase diagram of two bosonic chains coupled by interchain hopping and interchain boson boson repulsion is investigated by means of bosonization and renormalization group techniques. It comprises two types of charge density waves, a conventional superfluid phase and a superfluid phase made of condensed boson pairs. The effect of a random potential on that system is also derived. Compared wit...

متن کاملDefect-mediated condensation of a charge density wave
Symmetry, dimensionality, and disorder play a pivotal role in critical phenomena. The atomic imaging capabilities of the scanning tunneling microscope were used to directly visualize the interaction between charge density oscillations and lattice defects in a two-dimensional charge density wave (CDW) system. Point defects act as nucleation centers of the CDW, which, as the temperature is lowere...
